I know Becks career is waning, he's getting up there in age but IMO he's still got a couple more seasons in his feet....and I'm all for him coming to the MLS 'cos it would mean that I'd get to see him play live for however many times he'd come through Chicago..but if this comes to pass I'll vomit my toes up...any team but not the LA Galaxy please..not with bum bandit Donovan....

Re: Beckham
Thu, January 4, 2007 - 8:45 PMFrom what I've read it sounds like this won't be a move that Becks will be making any time soon... -

Re: Beckham
Thu, January 4, 2007 - 9:09 PMYeah I'm thinking he'll stay at Real Madrid...although he can't be too thrilled with the lack of play he's getting.

Re: Beckham
Thu, January 11, 2007 - 8:31 AMLONDON (AP) - David Beckham agreed to a five-year deal with the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer, leaving the Real Madrid club at which he enjoyed worldwide popularity but experienced disappointment on the field. -

Thu, January 11, 2007 - 8:38 AMFor that kind of money, anyone would go Hollywood... -

Re: Beckham
Thu, January 11, 2007 - 11:16 AMYeah not only for that but he does have his football academy there. I remember last year him saying he'd love to play for the New York Red Bulls...so when all of a sudden it was LA Galaxy I went "Huh?"...but with his school being in Cali it makes sense. Plus I'm sure Mrs. Becks wants to live the hollywood lifestyle. -

Re: Beckham
Thu, January 11, 2007 - 2:25 PMWould you turn down $50 million per year??? Plus now, dear Mrs. Becks can hang with Paris and Britney... -

Re: Beckham
Thu, January 11, 2007 - 3:13 PMI'm not so critical. I think he wants to play, he knows he can't really keep up with the English game, he's not getting game in Spain so here he will not only be a huge star he'll be responsible for injecting excitement into a game that people will go bananas over once they give it a chance. I'm sure living out in Cali won't disappoint the missus but I also don't think she's that shallow. I think the main reason he took the contract with this particular team is because of his football academy. I'm not particularly concerned why he's coming here as long as he is and I get to watch him play. Believe it or not I have never found him good-looking, I find him beautiful because he plays this game so well. His deal is worth, all together, 250 million, not a bad chunk 'o' change but not the only reason he's coming here.

Re: Beckham
Fri, January 12, 2007 - 2:27 AMGood riddance to bad rubbish :-) However, I don't think it means we are going to hear about him and his silly wife less than now. Its unfortunate that this has completely eclipsed Davids move to the US as well. I know who I'd rate as the better player! -

Re: Beckham
Fri, January 12, 2007 - 12:57 PMI don't get most of your post to be honest...are you out in England? Or are you here in the States? We're already hearing about him more than ever, not that that's too hard mind you. Whether or not his wife is silly is of no consequence seeing as she doesn't have anything to do with football. She's his wife, his love, and that's all. I'm excited, I can't wait to see him play. -

Re: Beckham
Fri, January 12, 2007 - 1:32 PMLook at her profile... it says she is from the UK. In England footballers wives and there actions are talked about just as much as the footballer themselves. There are even a ton of chants that involve his wife, that were sung every weekend during ManU matches... probably still are.
Cheers'

Re: Beckham
Fri, January 12, 2007 - 7:02 PMDon't usually look at peoples profiles, sue me. It was a legit question because I simply did not get the post. I do know about England, footballers and their wives thanx...and when you add an ex Spice girl into the mix of course she's talked about just as much and probably sometimes more, that wasn't my point. My point was why bring her into this? Of course she's coming with him, she's his wife. Of course we're going to be subjected to her probably on a regular basis but so what? I'm excited about the prospect of seeing one of the greatest footballers in person this summer, and I do believe he will infuse the MLS with some much needed gusto. And as for ManU chants, yeah I know a few about Rooney's girlfriend/fiancee....none of them are particularly pleasant poor girl. It's gotta be hard being out there and being with a famous footballer. -

Re: Beckham
Mon, January 15, 2007 - 1:17 AMYes I am in the UK. I don't mean to offend anyone by my comments on Victoria Beckham. David Beckham is an average footballer to say the least and his wife cannot sing and yet they are in the papers all the time. Some say their real talent is making money. -

Re: Beckham
Mon, January 15, 2007 - 1:33 PMNow it appears that Becks wants to get into the movies, as some sort of actor. ??? -

Re: Beckham
Mon, January 15, 2007 - 2:12 PMI've not heard HIM say that...I've heard nay-sayers say that though. I wonder if he'll start sooner playing for LA though since Real Madrid are being complete prats and saying they refuse to use him the rest of the season? If I were him I'd wave a spotted hankie, pack me bags and move on over here and start training. JMO though.

Re: Beckham
Fri, January 12, 2007 - 2:40 AMI guess I was wrong... but seriously, whats the point? The MLS still sucks, not the players, but the way in which the league is organized. The MLS payoff system is a joke... the regular season games don't count for shit!

Re: Beckham
Wed, January 24, 2007 - 12:24 PMgood stuff..............iMosaicmix!
although i have never been a fan of beckham, as a player or personality, i do believe this will open the door for more experienced players who have the ability to lead teams here in the mls. the added publicity it gives to the sport here is also a bonus. maybe one day we will be able to hear american announcers covering world cup matches without feeling like they have to educate the audience about throw-ins or making analogies to basketball or baseball.
as for mrs. becks.........not a big fan of her music, either, but she does create a buzz, wouldn't you say?
i remember being a teenager here when there was no opportunity to play this game professionaly or make a living in the business of soccer. i now have friends who are mls coaches, player reps and general managers of teams. fox soccer channel is alive and well and we all benefit from being able to watch soccer around the world, including the u.s. supporting the mls means that we will continue to develop as a soccer nation and not slide back into watching the greatest world sport from the sidelines.
a hearty welcome to david beckham and his wife.............hope you are a great ambassador for the mls!
